Lola Swanson
Co Owner & Instructor
Lola began formal dance training at the age of 7 at Studio Pulse Center for Dance in Anchorage, Alaska. When her family relocated to O'ahu, Hawai'i, Lola applied for and was accepted into the prestigious Ballet Hawai'i Summer Dance Intensive. Soon after, she joined Manoa Dance Studio as a first-time competition dancer, and has remained in the competitive dance circuit ever since. It was during this time she was hired as a Teacher's Aid for various studio classes. Lola has received numerous dance awards and scholarships at national dance competitions and conventions such as NUVO, JUMP, 5678 Showtime, Top of the World, and Spotlight Dance Cup.
Lola continues to train and compete with Studio Pulse in the genres of ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, and lyrical dance. In addition to dance, Lola is a varsity cheerleader, and a member of the volleyball team at Seward High School. She is an active member of the Student Council and maintains a 4.0 GPA.
In 2023, Lola was nominated for the Alaska Spirit of Youth Award as an adolescent business owner who created dance opportunities that have positively impacted the well being of many children and families in the community.
Brittany Swanson
Co Owner, Administrator, & Instructor
As Administrator, Brittany handles all enrollment, billing, and studio scheduling. She processes all dance scholarship applications, and works directly with our home school families for education credit and reimbursements. Brittany is the lead instructor in our Creative Movement preschool classes and subs as needed in the studio.
During her 3+ years in Hawai'i, Brittany was hired as Administrator for Manoa Dance Studio in Honolulu where she led a team of highly trained instructors and a flourishing studio family. Unfortunately, the studio did not survive the COVID years, but after returning to Alaska with her family, Brittany was ready to open a new studio in her rural community.
As an Administrator (and a dance mom) Brittany has had the opportunity to attend numerous dance classes and instructor trainings across the country. Her goal in opening The Hive Dance Studio was to bring dance instruction to the community, and to those who cannot travel for training and performance opportunities.
